Abstract

The issue with conventional solar panels is that they are statically aligned; they have a fixed position at a certain angle towards the sky. Therefore, the time and intensity of exposure to direct sunlight is greatly reduced, resulting in low power output from the photovoltaic (PV) cells. Solar tracking system is the solution to this issue. Studies have proven that solar tracking system with single-axis freedom can increase the output by more than 40%. The objective of this project is to develop and implement a solar tracking system with two degrees of freedom which tracks the sunlight using photocells.
