Over the decades, an incredible leap has been made by mankind in developing automative technology in particular the passive restraint system and it has indeed allowed people to travel around safely in their vehicles. However, this is still unable to dispute the brutal fact that the number of death cases due to car accidents are increasing in an alarming rate every year. Fatalities occur as a result of the failures in the restraint system in which the latch plate may often find to be incapable of enduring the load being input on the system. This research project prioritise on developing a latch plate design that has the capacity of keeping the seat belt securely locked to the buckle while being able to maintain reliability under high stress conditions.
