Abstract

The fabrication and construction of piping systems by various processes shall be made according to the relevant international welding codes and standard requirements in order to consistently produce quality weld beads/seam and to sustain the life span of all welded austenitic stainless steel pipes. The 304 series of austenitic stainless steel is chosen to conduct experiment in this research project as it is one of the popular type of steel used in the industries. This study has been carried out to determine the effect of welding parametes on weld bead geometries and mechanical properties of an austenitic stainless steel pipe material by varying the welding heat input.
