Abstract

Propagation path between a satellite and mobile users can determine the performance of a mobile satellite communication link. This study investigates the small scale multipath propagation in land mobile satellite communication channel. In this paper, we’re going to research on the characteristics of the multipath such as fading rate, Doppler shift and statistical representations for mobile satellite propagation such as Rayleigh and Rician distribution. A few case studies are set up in order to investigate the scenarios in multipath propagation between the fixed transmitter to the mobile receiver and also mobile transmitter to mobile receiver. Different types of transmitted signal from the transmitter to the receiver are being simulated such as direct signal, direct and multipath signal and scattered signal. From the simulation, we are going to see the effect multipath in signal propagation towards the phase, fading rate and Doppler shift.
