Beliat formation has almost similar lithology with Lambir, Miri and Seria formation. However, Beliat formation is mostly described as fluvial deposits and other formations are more marine. Nevertheless in recent study, Beliat formation has been claimed as marine coastline deposits. The interpretation of Beliat formation depositional environment is still debatable and it requires detail re-examination on the facies characteristics of the formation.
