Abstract

The engineering world relies heavily on combining materials to make parts, for example, in electric packaging. Structural failure of these composite parts is mainly due to thermo-mechanical stresses. Different materials have different mechanical properties such as tensile strength, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity etc. These properties affect the way materials interact with each other when connected. Research on methods to reduce the interfacial stresses is needed in order to reduce the chances of structural failure.
