Abstract

Energy conservation is significant for a sustainable future. Energy conservation can be achieved through several means. In order to take energy conservation, first a comprehensive energy audit is taken to determine how and where the energy is being consumed in facility. In this study load profiling is used as a method of charting the energy consumption of the campus over hourly intervals. This provides indication of maximum demand of the campus as well as the consumption pattern in different regions of campus. The maximum demand is an important aspect in calculating the load factor of the campus. Load inventory, in this study, is comprehensively taken to determine the different load categories in campus in terms of their connected demand, actual deman and total consumption. The billing data is tabulated and charted in order to cost analysis of the energy consumption in Curtin Sarawak. The load factor study is done to provide best possible solution in order to maximize profit. Comparative analysis is provided for comparing the HVAC in terms of cooling degree days for best practice. Recommendations for implementing new systems have been provided in order to minimize energy wastage.
