Title
The effects of alkali treatment and nanoclay on rice husk particles reinforced unsaturated polyester composites
Million tons of rice husks (the major agro-waste fibre) produced after the rice milling process. Rice husks offer a lot of advantages over synthetics fibres, however just like other natural fibres, the hydrophilic nature of rice husks results in incompatibility between rice husk and polyester resin and high moisture absoprtion. Consequently, these lead to reduction in the properties of composites. The mechanical properties can be enhanced by surface modification of natural fibres and incoporation of nanoparticles in polymer composites.
