Tool failure is of great concern as it directly affects the productivity and economy of machining industries. It has reported that 20% of the non-productive time is due to tool failure alone and their replacements accounts up to 12% of the total production cost. For this reason, a tool condition monitoring system is needed to monitor the condition of the cutting tool during the cutting process in order to avoid tool breakage.
