Wavelet analysis method has been used extensively to extract information from data such as audio signals and images to analyse a structure's surface as well as evaluate their surface roughness. In this work, wavelet analysis is introduced to decompose data of a surface profile which is in the form of a two dimensional digital imagery for analysis. The sampled surface profile is of a machined stainless steel bar (AISI 304).
