Abstract

Fractal is a self-similar object which appears to arise naturally in many different forms such as the structure of transport networks in organisms from biological science. For decades, the notion of fractal has been studied to develop useful applications in different disciplines. In the area of structural mechanics, it has been conjectured that the shells of ammonites of Jurrasic and Cretaceous periods have greater strength due to its complex fractal patterns.
