The aim of this research is to study the effect of tool nose wear, which is the area in direct contact to the surface profile of workpiece, on the surface roughness using a developed machine vision in turning operation. The data used in this study were generated using a develop algorithm that subtracts the image of work cutting tool insert from one of an unworn insert and subsequently calculated the corresponding wear are image and value.
