In this project, Westcott Circuit is designed and implemented for error detection. This circuit is designed Altera Max+Plus II software. The system design is achieved by making use of the Pseudorandom Noise Theory and properties. For this project, a configurable circuit, which makes use of the pseudorandom noise sequene generator, has been constructed to illustrate the Westcott Circuit. This circuit is able to output PN sequences of degree 5,6,10,11,20 and 22. For testing purposes, an error generator is designed to emulate real life data transmission where errors was tested for PN sequences of degree 5,6,10,11,20 and 22. The results obtained are analyzed and discussed, such as the minor drawback of error cancellation effect. These effects are however found to be negligible under normal test conditions. The accuracy of these principal results shows the potential of this project to use Westcott Circuit for error detection.
