Nowadays, there are many alternative sources for generating energy instead of using fossil fuel. The alternative energy sources include solar, nuclear, wind, fuel cell and others. Solar energy is renewable energy that is freely available. Generally, there are two major categories of solar energy collectors: solar thermal and solar photovoltaic. In this project, solar thermal collectors were studied and the most suitable solar thermal collector for hot water generation. The main objective of this project is to design and construct parabolic trough collector that can be implemented at rural area for people to generate hot water in order to fulfill household activities.
