Optimization of dry machining cutting parameters for machinable glass ceramic in end milling using coated carbide inserts
In this study, coated carbide tool insert was being used in end milling for advanced ceramics under dry condition of machining. The tool inserts used were coated with a layer of TiN and a layer of TiAIN. The layer of TiN and TiAIN coating provides the insert with low affinity towards the workpiece and hence superior surface finish can be obtained. End milling is one of the most verstile and commonly used machining processess for metals.
