Analysis of tool wear in orthogonal turning operation using finite element method
Tool wear has a great influence on the machining operation. Thus, it should be accurately predicted and forecasted. Accurate prediction could help the operators to choose the optimum tool-work piece combination so as to maximize the efficiency and minimize the operating cost. Metal cutting process is simulated by using ANSYS LSDYNA FEM based software. Tungsten carbide as cutting tool while AISI 1045 as workpiece.
