Abstract

As the world technology has been greatly improved, many types of equipment used today require stability of power supply. These equipments are very sensitive to voltage variations. To maintain the operational performance, grounding is necessary to prevent damage or failure of equipments. The earth has been used as part of the safety system to produce safe and reliable electrical systems. Study of grounding techniques involves systems grounding, equipments grounding and soil considerations. Soil resistivity measurement and testing approaches has been discussed in this thesis. Exploration of power system grounding is greatly beneficial to the safety of grounded systems, structures and personnel.
