Abstract

In the photovoltaic (PV) system, there is always a problem where maximum power is not being transfered to the load. This is due to the non-linear I-V characteristics exhibited by the PV module. As a result, a device called Maximm Power Point Tracker (MPPT) is required to install in between the PV module and the load in order to extract the maximum power from the PV module. In this project, the dc-dc converter that will control the output voltage level and the algorithm to control the duty cycle will be designed and implemented. The microcontroller used in this project is Programmable Interface Circuit (PIC) manufactured by the Microchip Technology.
