Position Details

Academic, Full Time (Contract)

Location: Miri, Sarawak

We are seeking to appoint a teaching focus lecturer to join the Faculty of Humanities and Health Sciences on a contract basis.

The role holder will be involved in undergraduate teaching and supervision of department activities.

 

Your key responsibilities:

·         Deliver learning activities face to face, distributed or online as appropriate, to foster student learning.

·         Assess and provide feedback on learning to students.

·         Develop students' creativity and problem-solving skills through study and assessment project.

·         Contribute significantly to academic service, collegiality and engagement and external community engagement activities relevant to the discipline/profession.

·         MPU subjects to be taught by the candidate:

1.    Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 1 & 2

2.    Bahasa Kebangsaan A

3.    Human Rights

4.    Philosophy & Current Issues

 

Selection Criteria:

·         Master/PhD in Language Studies/Social Sciences/General Studies/History/Human Sciences or related fields.

·         Demonstrated teaching experience at tertiary level and familiar with online teaching tools.

·         Established high level teaching skills with a reflective approach to teaching delivery.

·         An emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.

·         A strong understanding of pedagogical and contemporary educational practise relevant to the discipline.

·         A high-level proficiency in both verbal and written Bahasa Melayu and English language.

·         Priority will be given for those with teaching experience in MPU units.

·         High level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.


·         Contribution to an active role in academic service and proven evidence of effective leadership within the department/faculty level as appropriate to the level of appointment.
