Location: Miri, Sarawak
Salary range: RM 31,800 p.a. – RM 49,080 p.a.
Your new role
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of student recruitment and business development of Curtin University in Sarawak. The incumbent will help to develop and execute the plan for those regions under his/her team, which includes a range of activities (e.g. organisation of promotional events, recruitment of students, building links and networks with recruitment partners, school counsellors and institutions of higher learning and identifying trends in regional markets for higher education aimed at generating local public awareness on various programmes offered by the University and recruit potential students. He/She is accountable for achieving the team and individual sales targets, by driving the team sales pipeline (Lead, Contact, Appointment, Visit, Application and Enrolment).
Key responsibilities
- Develop the recruitment plan and strategies and budget in the areas/regions assigned. Execute all planned recruitment activities of the year and manage the allocated budget without exceeding it.
- Provide information for the purpose of enrolment to prospects and their parents on the programmes offered by the university and to achieve set targets in student enrolment.
- Organise promotional events in accordance with the allocated budget, attend fairs, receptions, seminars etc., to promote Curtin’s programmes and recruit potential students.
- Initiate new ideas to recruit students via events, school activities and any other window of opportunities.
- Obtained an agreed sizeable amount of leads and applications from each event organized or participated for a funnel conversion.
- Develop and maintain positive relationship with recruitment agents in the areas/regions assigned.
- Maintained good relationships with all stakeholders without negative feedback on work matters. Actively ensures the agents performs by giving them targets.
- Manage enquiries, ensure all emails, calls/walk-ins are responded promptly and in a professional manner to increase student’s enrolment. Ensure that follow-ups on all leads, application and offers using LMS/CRM, SMS/WhatsApp, EDM and phone/WhatsApp calls are completed.
- Follow-up on all offers and convert each to payment with the prearranged conversion rate.
- Cultivate good working relationship with school representatives. Identify opportunities at these schools to acquire quality leads.
- Gather market intelligence, such as trends in applications and popular courses in the market.
- Prepare post event reports for every event participated/conducted and ensure that they are completed and submitted within the given stipulated timeframe.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree from a recognised institution preferably in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent.
- Demonstrated a high level of motivation to work with people, able to deal with customer enquiries in an effective and positive manner.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to organize time and workload in order to meet deadlines and maintain control of multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated effective planning skills, including developing recruitment plan and monitoring recruitment budget.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communications skills (including presentation and negotiation skills) with a wide variety of people and with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Willing to travel extensively and work on flexible schedules and working hours.
Desirable
- Experience working in an educational environment, preferably in an international higher education context.
- Good network with recruitment agents, government agencies, embassies etc., both domestically and internationally.
