Location: Miri, Sarawak
Salary range: RM34,000.00 - RM44,000.00 per annum
Your new role
The primary role of this position is to provide students with a positive experience of campus life through an enhanced residential life experience and to support Curtin’s objectives of enhancing students’ life in an environment that celebrates diversity, social awareness and responsible citizenship.
The incumbent will assist the Senior Operation Officerto supervise the Residence Operation team on the daily operations of Residence division (Kingfisher 1, 2,3,4,6,7,8,9, CW-II) in providing quality services, managing and attending to resident’s complaints, ensuring that residents comply to policies and procedures, rules and regulations as well as providing administrative support in Residence services related duties.
Clients of Residence division include students (undergraduate and post graduate, domestic and international), staff, property landlords and other external clients.
Key responsibilities
Operations
- Monitor activities in order to achieve timely and efficient outcome leading to excellent customer service under the area.
- Responsible for the smooth and efficient daily operation of the service area; check in and check out, key registry, handling and maintaining residence’s properties and facilities.
- Develops and maintain working relationship with all clients to advance work objectives.
- Process and give recommendations for student’s appeals.
- Focal person for purchasing (E-PRF) and Fixed Asset management.
- Manage and coordinate official and unofficial communication to residents.
- Does spot checks and manage resident’s disciplinary issues.
- Manage the promotion of properties including resident’s engagement activities.
- Monitor occupancy rate to ensure maximization of revenue and occupancy for all properties - outsourced properties are to meet the minimum agreed occupancy rate.
- Any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor within the parameter of the position.
Marketing and Communications
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to attract potential residents.
- Utilize online platforms and social media to promote the Residence.
- Act as the content creator of Curtin Residence Whatapps Community Group to communicate to Residents on any Residence related announcement, events informations etc.
Leadership and Supervision
- Provide leadership and direction to a team and mediates conflict occurring across work units, while providing support and advise to other work areas.
- Ensure that subordinates understand the department’s Unit Operational Plan to achieve set KPIs.
- Handle and resolve resident’s complaints and requests in a professional manner, ensuring prompt actions are taken at all times.
- Assist the Senior Operation Officer in providing input and operational advice for the development of new on-campus student accommodation.
- Assist the Senior Operation Officer in planning and strategising for the area.
Budget
Monitor monthly profit and loss and ensure proper financial management in accordance with approved budget
About you
- A degree in Accounting or Finance and/or Management with relevant working experience.
- Demonstrated ability in financial planning and budget management.
- Demonstrated skills with innovative process improvement and project management.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, lead significant change and maintain staff engagement in the process.
- Demonstrated ability to provide direction and support to a team and work effectively with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated a high level of motivation to work with people, able to deal with customer enquiries in an effective and positive manner.
- Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to clients and staff on matters of a sensitive and confidential nature.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with staff at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately maintain records.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and complete a variety of activities to meet conflicting deadlines.
- Experience working with students in an education setting or institution is an added advantage.
