Professional, Full Time (Contract)
Location: Miri, Sarawak
Salary range: RM 21,600.00 – RM34,800.00 per annum
This position is responsible in providing reference assistance to patrons and related duties as required. Duties are mostly on daily operational needs such as being able to answer basic to intermediate inquiries using online resources, references and general collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct classes for Information Skills Training for Curtin Library users (students & staff).
- Involved with orientation week and any other library activities.
- Actively promotes library resources to users (students & staff).
- Listing, sorting and shelving students’ Final Year Projects, Masters’ Thesis and others.
- Sorting out subscribed journals & magazines for binding.
- Perform shelving and ‘shelf reading’ on a daily basis.
- Assist with annual stock checking.
- Monitor the library’s website and report to the Reference Librarian for broken links.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A diploma in Information Management or equivalent.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services.
- Ability to perform basic reference and reader’s advisory work.
- Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify problems and make sound decisions, including situations with limited information.
- Ability to interact and work effectively with library staff and other departments to build and maintain good relations.
- Time management skills; ability to plan, organize, and manage competing priorities, deliver high-quality results, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and respond rapidly and effectively to changing priorities.
- Ability to work well independently and function as part of a team when necessary.
- Computer literate.
- Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language.
- Ability to work on shifts, weekends and public holidays as and when required.
