Your new role
This position is responsible for issuing invoices and receipts, preparing refunds, following up on outstanding accounts and handling and maintaining all financial records.
Key responsibilities
- Perform cashiering function: receive and issue receipts for all collections of the University including course fees, deposits, student housing fees, other debtors, sundry incomes from Library, ICT, Bookshop & Laundry, etc.
- Take up any overpayment in the student's account as advised by the international office for student pass and visa.
- Advise the student services department to admit and enroll new students when the payment has been verified.
- Prepare and balance daily collections with reports and prepare bank remittance documentation at the end of the shift on the same day.
- Balanced cash float and prepared daily Accounts Receivable Recap for approval before posting to accounting/student ledgers.
- Handle and process student refunds in accordance with the University’s refund policies on fees and refundable deposits.
- Prepare journal entries to take up credit card charges or housing department journal entries in the accounting ledger.
- Handle and maintain proper filing systems for receiving vouchers.
- Answer e-mails and phone queries pertaining to fees and payment, prepare statements of accounts for students upon request and resolve customer queries and accounts discrepancies promptly and tactfully in a courteous manner.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time within the parameter of this position.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Accountancy from a recognized university.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in book keeping/accounts, processing and reconciliation of financial transactions, handling of cash and credit card payment.
- Able to handle multiple tasks in a very demanding office environment, especially during peak periods.
- Detailed oriented, demonstrated good time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient or have experience working with accounting software and MS Office especially Excel.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
