Curtin Aquaculture Research Laboratory

Academic, Full Time (Contract)

Location: Miri, Sarawak

We are seeking to hire a Lecturer and Researcher to join Curtin Aquaculture Research Laboratory on a contract basis. The role holder will be involved in teaching, postgraduate supervision, manage research project and will be expected to make a significant contribution to research.

Your new role

• Contribute to research profile of the CARL through research publications and grants.
• Write research proposals and initiating high quality research in the area of expertise.
• Establish and initiate external stakeholder engagement.
• Manage projects and work cooperatively with other Faculty members for interdisciplinary research.
• Participate in research projects and assists in other areas including support teaching, training course, field trips.
• Organize workshops, training programs and outreach activities for knowledge transfer.
• Development and revision of standard operating procedure.
• Supervise student projects, internships and theses in alignment with the institute’s research priorities.
• Participate in committees, strategic planning and capacity-building initiatives to support the institute's goals.
• Foster collaborations with other research organizations, universities, and private sector partners.
  
  
  

About you

• PhD in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, or a related discipline.
• Proven track record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Strong research background in aquaculture with extensive experience breeding, fish nutrition, or immunology.
• A high level of English verbal and written communication.
• Ability to supervise postgraduate (Masters by research and PhD) students.
• Ability to develop proposals for research funding, design research projects, lead and develop a research team.
• High level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
