Location: Miri, Sarawak
We are seeking to hire a Lecturer and Researcher to join Curtin Aquaculture Research Laboratory on a contract basis. The role holder will be involved in teaching, postgraduate supervision, manage research project and will be expected to make a significant contribution to research.
Your new role
- Contribute to research profile of the CARL through research publications and grants.
- Write research proposals and initiating high quality research in the area of expertise.
- Establish and initiate external stakeholder engagement.
- Manage projects and work cooperatively with other Faculty members for interdisciplinary research.
- Participate in research projects and assists in other areas including support teaching, training course, field trips.
- Organize workshops, training programs and outreach activities for knowledge transfer.
- Development and revision of standard operating procedure.
- Supervise student projects, internships and theses in alignment with the institute’s research priorities.
- Participate in committees, strategic planning and capacity-building initiatives to support the institute's goals.
- Foster collaborations with other research organizations, universities, and private sector partners.
About you
- PhD in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, or a related discipline.
- Proven track record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong research background in aquaculture with extensive experience breeding, fish nutrition, or immunology.
- A high level of English verbal and written communication.
- Ability to supervise postgraduate (Masters by research and PhD) students.
- Ability to develop proposals for research funding, design research projects, lead and develop a research team.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
