Position Details
Professional, Full Time (Contract)
The Officer, Careers & Alumni Relations supports the delivery of career-readiness events, employer engagement activities, and alumni outreach initiatives to enhance student employability and alumni connection with the university. The role includes coordinating event logistics, maintaining alumni and graduate outcome databases, and supporting performance reporting through data collection and analysis.
Additionally, the officer manages digital communications, curates alumni stories, and benchmarks best practices to strengthen alumni engagement and promote career services. The position requires strong coordination, communication, and analytical skills to effectively support the strategic objectives of Curtin Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Event & Employer Engagement Support
- Assist in planning and executing career-readiness programs such as career fairs, recruitment talks, reunions, and mentoring sessions in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
2. Alumni Database & Outreach Management
- Maintain and regularly update the alumni database and outreach tools; support data integrity and segmentation for targeted communications and engagement activities.
3. Digital Communications & Alumni Storytelling
- Coordinate the production of digital content and storytelling initiatives showcasing alumni achievements and career pathways across email, web, and social media platforms.
4. Graduate Outcomes & Employer Feedback Tracking
- Collect and analyse data from graduate surveys and employer feedback for reporting on student employability outcomes and continuous improvement.
5. Logistical Coordination
- Organise logistics for physical and virtual events related to alumni and careers, ensuring effective planning, stakeholder coordination, and timely delivery.
6. Benchmarking & Research
- Support environmental scanning and benchmarking of careers and alumni engagement best practices to guide service enhancement and strategy development.
7. Performance & Improvement Reporting
- Assist with the preparation of reports and insights based on program data, engagement metrics, and stakeholder feedback to inform strategic planning.
About You
- A degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Public Relations, Communications, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years’ experience in career services, alumni relations, marketing, administration, or related field, preferably in an educational setting.
- Understanding of graduate employability trends and student engagement strategies.
- Working knowledge of alumni CRM systems and online career/employer portals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms; familiarity with digital marketing and communications tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor content for various audiences.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Analytical and data interpretation skills; ability to manage and report on data accurately.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Event planning and coordination experience.
- High level of professionalism, customer service orientation, and cultural sensitivity.
Desirable:
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, alumni, employers, and internal teams across a diverse cultural context.
- Experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering events such as career fairs, employer engagement activities, or alumni networking functions.
- Fluency in additional languages (Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Indigenous languages) considered an asset.
