Professional, Full Time (Contract)

Location: Miri, Sarawak

The Centre of Excellence in New and Sustainable Energy Research and Ventures (CONSERV) is seeking a motivated Research Officer to support the centre’s research activities, administrative tasks, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with CONSERV members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, assist with laboratory and reporting tasks, and help promote the centre’s initiatives and engage with stakeholders.  This position reports to the Director of CONSERV.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support, including documentation, scheduling, procurement, and coordinating meetings or events.
• Assist researchers with laboratory-related tasks such as sample preparation, routine measurements, and data organisation.
• Operate and maintain characterisation equipment (e.g., TGA, XRD, SEM) after receiving training. Coordination with the Laboratory technician may be required.
• Draft and format reports, proposals, and communication materials.
• Actively contribute to the promotion of CONSERV’s activities through outreach, online updates, and engagement with potential clients.
• Provide general assistance to CONSERV members to ensure effective centre operations.

About You

• Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with good research experience.
• Knowledge or interest in sustainability, renewable energy, or related fields.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage day-to-day tasks efficiently.
• Willingness to learn laboratory procedures and equipment handling.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with scientific equipment (TGA, XRD, SEM) is an advantage.
• Background in outreach, promotional activities, or client engagement is desirable.
