Position Details
Professional, Full Time (Contract)
The position is responsible for managing all aspects of the student’s admissions process. The incumbent will be responsible for initiating and developing improvements to policies, procedures and business practices to ensure a high level of service and efficient practice to meet desired outcomes. A key element is a focus on continuous improvement, best practice and benchmarking.
The position also has responsibility for promoting and ensuring compliance with relevant Government legislation and University policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess domestic admissions applications and issue letters of offer in accordance with MQA and University entry guidelines.
- Process student acceptances according to procedure, confirm entry requirements.
- Provide advice and assistance to prospective and enrolled domestic students on admission procedures and entry requirements.
- Provide information on alternative pathway options for applicants who do not automatically qualify for admission to their preferred course, and respond to qualification queries in accordance with University policy.
- Process Credit for Recognised Learning application in accordance with the MQA policy and update the outcome in the systems.
- Process readmission from the termination application and student ID consolidation.
- Update student details and documents in the systems.
- Liaison with Academics, administrative staff, other departments and campus counterparts.
- Ensure all processes' turnaround times are in line with the Admissions SOP.
- Handle any other task as delegated by the Manager and Supervisor.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A university degree and relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience and competence in the use of computers.
- Demonstrated database management skills and the ability to accurately process high volumes of data.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and also with minimal supervision within a team environment.
- Demonstrated time management and organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and initiative when dealing with difficult situations.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, in particular the ability to effectively and tactfully deal with clients, ensuring cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the daily responsibilities of the position.
Desirable
- Experience working within a tertiary education environment.
- Experience with information systems such as student administration systems.
