Your new role
We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow to join the Department of Health Science on a contract basis. The role holder will be involved in undergraduate teaching and supervision and will be expected to make a significant contribution to engagement.
Your key responsibilities
- As a Teaching Fellow, you will contribute primarily to high-quality teaching and learning in the Bachelor of Science (Health, Safety and Environment). The role focuses on the delivery of core foundation, intermediate, and advanced units in health sciences, occupational health and safety, environmental management, public health, and applied research methods. You will support students in developing strong conceptual, practical, and professional competencies aligned with industry and accreditation requirements
- You will be responsible for the delivery, coordination, and assessment of undergraduate units within the Health, Safety and Environment program, with a particular focus on research and biostatistics–related units. You may also contribute to other relevant units within the Health, Safety and Environment discipline, as required.
- Additional responsibilities include delivering lectures and tutorials; designing, marking, and moderating assessments; providing timely and constructive feedback; supporting students’ academic progress; engaging in teaching-related professional development; and contributing to a collegial and supportive teaching environment.
About You
- A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Health Sciences, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health, or a closely related discipline.
- A PhD is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching health & safety, environmental, or public health units at undergraduate level.
- Demonstrated experience in using and teaching statistical software (e.g. SPSS or equivalent).
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices, legislation, and risk management frameworks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse student cohorts.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining effective collaboration and reciprocal relationship with local, national or international activities in industry, community, organisations or government.
