Role Overview
The Faculty of Humanities and Health Science is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow for Construction Management. The successful candidate will contribute primarily to high quality undergraduate teaching.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Supervision
- Deliver, coordinate, and assess undergraduate teaching.
- Teach lectures and conduct tutorials; design, administer, and mark assessments; provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Support students in research design, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Provide academic advising and student support.
- Engage in the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoLT), including evaluation of teaching effectiveness and dissemination of best practice within the faculty.
- Contribute to a collegial, inclusive, peer mentoring, interdisciplinary teaching and high‑quality teaching environment.
Service & Engagement
- Contribute to academic service at department and faculty levels.
- Demonstrate collegiality and effective teamwork.
- Build and maintain effective engagement with industry, professional bodies, the wider community or government partners.
- Participate in academic committees, student recruitment activities and faculty-led workshops.
Qualification and Experience
- Minimum, a Master’s degree in Project Management or MBA. The first degree must be in Quantity Surveying (Honours) or Construction Management (Honours) or other construction related discipline.
- A registered Quantity Surveyor (Consultant Quantity Surveyor (CQS) or Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) or in progress towards registration of CQS or PQS with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM).
- PhD in a related discipline is desirable for candidates who are expected to contribute to postgraduate supervision and scholarly activities.
- Demonstrated a strong record of teaching excellence at tertiary level with evidence of effective student engagement and retention.
Skills & Competencies
- Software proficiency skills in CostX, Microsoft Project, Navisworks and Fuzor.
- Demonstrated instructional competence in managing diverse classrooms and applying inclusive teaching strategies.
- Familiarity with contemporary pedagogical approaches such as flipped classrooms, project-based learning, authentic assessment, and values-based education is expected.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support diverse student cohorts and work collaboratively.
